Gift cards to Berane, Nikšić, Pljevlja, Herceg Novi, Podgorica and Bar

(09 March, 2010)
In the premises of Promonte Company, on 9th March, gift cards were awarded to seven winners from the second cycle of the prize competition CHOOSE AMOUNT.

Namely, on 15th February, along with the launching of the improved electronic recharge service, the prize competition also started for all Promonte customers who decide to recharge their prepaid account in this way. The prize competition is realized in six cycles in the period from 15th February until 29th March 2010. At the moment 4th cycle is in progress and drawing of the winners for the third cycle is 10th March, in the program TVIN MIX, in IN television.

The e load service is becoming more and more popular from day to day. For the first seven days of March, 56% of total prepaid refill was done by e-load service.

The winners of the prizes in the second cycle are the owners of the following prepaid numbers:

  • 069 266 922, Mahović Hatidža
  • 069 579 193, Žarko Dragičević
  • 069 567 588, Sanja Jaković
  • 069 867 617, Lučić Radoman
  • 069 566 498, Beriša Smailj
  • 069 939 394, Nikola Marković
  • 069 229 916, Čurović Dragana

During ceremony of delivering the gifts cards, a lot of words of gratitude and excitement could be heard.
Also, Promonte is getting a lot of positive feedback from the market regarding improved e-load service. Comments are that customers can chose whatever amount they wish and money is immediately on their “account”, it is much easier and simpler without the tape and additional typing in, frequently it happens that somebody wants to recharge someone else’s phone number and this way of recharge suits it ideally, e-load is easy and quick handling, this way of recharge enables to recharge amount that is not „rounded”, customer can chose any amount he wishes, and that means a lot.
As for e-load itself, currently we have e-load set at 1.960 point of sales.

Anyhow, we are reminding that all prepaid customers of Promonte network can participate in the prize competition (except for the users of Anywhere prepaid package), who recharge their account with 6.9 €, which qualifies them for participation in the competition. If the users recharge their account with 6.9€ several times during one cycle, they will be listed in the database the same number of times for drawing and they become potential winners of the prize – CKB gift card in the money value of 1000 Euro, which can be used in all POS terminals of Montenegrin Commercial Bank (CKB) and only for purchase of goods. Winners can not use CKB gift cards to draw money through ATMs.

The procedure for electronic recharge of prepaid account is very simple. It is sufficient that the customers, who wish to recharge their account with a certain amount, visit one of 1800 points of sale and ask for electronic recharge of the prepaid account. The new element is that customers can choose any amount of the recharge, in the range from 1 to 50 Euro, e.g. 15.6 or 33.3, or similar. After a few moments the customer receives a reply SMS that his/her account was increased by X Euro and the same SMS is received by the seller who performed the transaction.

Therefore, there are no paper confirmations on the performed recharge, it is all done electronically. Promonte, as a part of Telenor group, within the program for climate change, aim to enable their customers to be environmentally responsible, and thus to contribute with their behaviour and acting to decrease of carbon emission. The use of electronic recharge service itself can contribute to this aim, because not only that the quantity of paper that was previously necessary for printing paper confirmation is now reduced, but also there is a lower need for printing paper vouchers

“The same trends from previous three quarters continued in last quarter of 2009. Revenues in the fourth quarter were 18.5 mill EURO, 11% lower than last year, mainly due to lower prepaid revenues and heavy competition on the market”, explained Kaaren Hilsen, CFO.

Mobile Internet, employees’ gifts and “Beauty and the Beast” in Orphanage

(08 February, 2010)
Visiting the Orphanage in Bijela always arouses emotions which are hard to describe.

On Saturday, February 6th, representatives of our company visited “Mladost” Home for Abandoned Children in Bijela and awarded two lap-top computers on that occasion, as well as modems for the mobile Internet and three months of free Internet access. Our wish was to enable children from the Home to have access to a source of information at any time, side by side with their peers, to be able to use the Internet in educational purposes, for aquiring knew knowledge, but also for fun and getting in touch with broader social developments, anywhere and anytime, by using the Internet Anywhere Service of Promonte.

At present there are 165 children residing in “Mladost” Home, the only institution of this type in Montenegro. In addition to a long-standing support provided by our company to this institution, our emplyees have been collecting clothes, footwear and toys on their own initiative, whishing thus to contribute personally to better living conditions for the children in the Home. Mrs. Slavica Ilić - the Home’s Assistant Director and all the children sent special regards to all the employees in Promonte.

Having regard to the joy shown by the children from the Home when in December last year the Promonte company in co-operation with the City Theatre from Podgorica organised, only for them, a performance of the play titled “The Magic Stone”, we decided to rejoice them again. Thus on Saturday, February 6th, the children enjoyed the performance of the play titled “Beauty and the Beast”.

Promonte is aware of its role and overall influence it exerts on the Montenegrin society. Our corporate values that we incorporate in our everyday business dealings do not involve only business success; they also include the overall improvement of the quality of life of the community in which we operate.

Filter for child sexual abuse content for mobile phones

(20 November, 2009)
Promonte, in cooperation with the Montenegrin Police Directorate, sets up a filter to disable access via mobile phone to thesites containing children pornography.

On 11 February 2008, GSM Association has launched its "Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Content" following the good results that was achieved in Norway. Actually, Telenor Mobil, Telenor mobile operator in Norway was the first mobile operator in the world to introduce filter for child sexual abuse content for mobile phones.

MilanTomić, pomoćnik direktora Uprave policije i Christopher Laska, Izvršni direktor kompanije PromonteTelecom industry needs to join ranks to prevent the spreading of child sexual abuse content through mobile phones. Several major mobile operators joined forces to expand the global outreach of the filter and prevent individuals in using mobile networks to host, access or profit from child sexual abuse content. As part of the Alliance, operators commit themselves to implement filtering technology at their global operations. And that is what we are doing today in Montenegro.

Promonte, as mobile operator, is committed to pursue Internet security in the mobile world in order to provide safe products and protect the most vulnerable in our society. Therefore, Promonte established a partnership with the Montenegrin Interpol to implement “Child Sexual Abuse Filter”. The child sexual abuse filter is a technical barrier that blocks websites containing child sexual abuse content to a mobile phone. The Telenor Group is a pioneer within this field and became the world's first telecom operator to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in creating such a filter. Following the success of the filter in our three Nordic markets, we are joining forces with other mobile operators to expand the global outreach of the filter.

We wish to restrict the market for such material and prevent accidental access by the public to child sexual abuse content. Telecommunications is a tremendous asset to children and their families. Children are keen and playful users of mobile phones. But guidance and protection is needed, otherwise children may be subjected to “cyber bullying” or harmful material on their mobiles. 3G technology opens new opportunities for mobile phones. With the advent of new technology, new challenges also arise, as well as new demands on mobile operators. 3G is no exception. In principle, users may now connect to any website via their mobile phones. By implementing the filter, we contribute to address a very serious problem, while also setting new international standards

As part of the agreement Montenegrin Interpol provides a hotline and a continuously updated list of URLs containing illegal child sexual abuse material. The partnership therefore clearly sets out that Montenegrin Interpol shall be responsible for making all assessments as to content legality. Promonte’s role is limited to providing the technical solution and managing the technical filtering process based on a block list provided by Montenegrin Interpol.

Telenor is part of Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Content, in Preamble in which it is said:

1.1. 1.1 The Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Content respects the fundamental human rights including the right of everyone to hold opinions without interference, as well as the right to freedom of expression, including the freedom to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, and the rights concerning the respect for privacy.

1.2. 1.2 The Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Content also acknowledges that children, as a particular vulnerable group, should habve the right to be protected from exploitation by individuals or organizations wishing to consume or profit form child sexual abuse content in the mobile environment

1.3. 1.3 The Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Content is mindful of the need to ensure a proper balance between the interests of law enforcement and respect for fundamental human rights on this subject matter.

1.4. 1.4 The Mission of the Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Content is to obstruct the use of mobile environment by individuals or organization wishing to consume or profit from child sexual abuse content.

The first repeater powered by renewable energy

(13 November, 2009)
Promonte has launched another environmentally-friendly initiative by using solar and wind energy to power one of its repeater sites

Promonte is the country’s first mobile communications services provider to have started using renewable energy sources to power its repeater.

The installation of base stations with renewable energy sources is among initial steps in our contributing to the achievement of objectives in the fields of energy efficiency and environmental protection. We hope that Promonte, as a leader in this field, will encourage other companies in Montenegro to join us in saving our environment”, said Ana Radulovic, CCAO.

Long-term environment commitment
Within the scope of its strategic determinations in activities of corporate social responsibility, Promonte pays special care to the environmental protection, beside heath and education. Being an integral part of Telenor Group, Promonte has great ambitions in fields, which deal with the environmental protection and activities for reducing global warming.

The constant user need for innovative services leads to an increased use of telecommunication networks. Although at this moment telecommunication operators are not large polluters, our base stations, towers and network components require a substantial amount of energy to ensure our customers a smooth service. In order to reduce CO2 emission we aim to increase the energy efficiency of our network operations by switching to network components with improved design for easier maintenance exploring the potential for renewable energy sources. The newest activities, relating to recently signed contract with the telecommunication equipment leader, ZTE company, in building future proof network, are also aimed at green business because one of the key factors in making such decision was also the energy efficiency which will increase by implementing the equipment of our new partner.

Keep promises
As we promised early this spring, and keeping promises is one of our core values, we are here, in Platije canyon, in front of the first green repeater in Montenegro, that presents solar-wind hybrid system“ said Ana, “However, we experienced long process of obtaining the licenses. Having in mind that green business is becoming one of the priorities of Montenegro, such long processes can be considered a business barrier. Our recommendation is to include all subjects and to try to find together a model that would support the need of this sector for dynamics”

Cover you all
A number of factors influenced Promonte choice of Platije canyon as place for the first green repeater. The first and the basic one in everything we do are our customers who need the best and continuous coverage. The chosen location is one of the rare points of the road in Morača canyon where the signal coverage can still be improved, so that the customers feel even more secure in this road line. Apart from that, we have recognized that in this micro-location there are good conditions regarding the renewable energy sources, in this case wind and sun.

„At the same time, electric energy is not available at this moment, and the construction of such infrastructure could influence the environment in a negative way which can not be excused, specially having in mind that the repeater has relatively low consumption (700kWh annually). “ said Jovan Ivanovic, Business support Manager and explain characteristics of this hybrid system: „2 wind generators “Suprwind” with additional equipment, solar system with 8 photovoltaic modules, Aku batteries, which accumulate the surplus of energy produced. Expected production of hybrid system is 700KWh for one year what is enough for continuous repeater work and quality signal in tunnels"

One more important thing is that the project and implementation work was conducted by local company, System d.o.o., that showed extraordinary dedication and commitment to the project but as well protection of the environment.

I have to acknowledge that it has been a great pleasure to cooperate with the people who recognized the significance of application of alternative energy sources for power-supplying of these systems. Systems such as this one have been power-supplied until now by aggregates that use liquid fuel for operation and emit significant quantities of CO2 and other toxic components into the atmosphere, and Promonte Company made a decision to apply such a solution giving in that way its contribution to exploitation of an enormous potential of Montenegro in relation to renewable energy sources and preservation of environment“ said Ljubomir Bošković, Director of the company System d.o.o.

Apart from the representatives of the Promonte Company and a great number of media, Srđan Mihaljević – Deputy Minister for Maritime Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications as well as representatives of the Agency for Environmental Protection of Montenegro Zoran Mitrović and Mladen Đuranović were also present at today’s opening of the repeater.

In accordance with Promonte vision that we strive to be a driving force in development of mobile telephony in Montenegro and that we always offer creative, innovative and simply solutions for our customers in order to make their life easier, Promonte activated new service for automatic configuration of parameters for GPRS and MMS services that enable customers to access Internet directly via their mobile phones and share precious photos. On this way, none Promonte customers will have to think whether they have or not set the parameters for usage of these popular services.

All Promonte customers, which until now did not for any reason use their mobile phones to access Internet or share their precious moments through photos with their closest friends, family, companions, will get the possibility to do that automatically. Promonte will send to all its subscribers, who did not have this service activate already, one SMS with instruction how they could activate these services automatically. After the first message, customers will be instructed to save next two SMSs they are going to receive from Promonte, and simply by that the services will be activated. After successful configuration, customers will get MMS greeting from Promonte and on that way they will know that the service is successfully activated.

On this way, they will automatically join 90.000 of Promonte customers who freely, anywhere at anytime via their mobile phones, enter the on line world and keep themselves up/to/date on social networking, checking e-mails or simply browsing for the latest information. Maintaining market position

(23 July, 2009)
Promonte announces an increase of 24,195 subscriptions in the second quarter compared to the first quarter of 2009 and has maintained a subscription market share of 39%.

In the second quarter of 2009, Promonte’s revenues reached 21 million euro. Whilst revenues were 11% lower than the same period last year, EBITDA only decreased by 8% due to the company’s continued focus on operational efficiency and cost control. This in turn meant that the EBITDA margin increased by 1 percentage points to 43%.

“Our revenue performance this quarter was somewhat disappointing, but was as expected taking into consideration the lower number of tourists and the impact of the current financial situation on our customers. However, we are happy with our stable customer base and would like to thank our customers for their loyalty. It is important to us that we continue to deliver a good service experience to our customers going forward, despite the challenging environment around us” Christopher Laska, Promonte CEO, pointed out.

We will endeavor to contribute to development of Montenegrin society in the future as well, primarily by focusing on the activities integrated in our core business.“

The Primary Health Care Center Director, Ms Vera Bojović, said that a mammography was indispensable to that health care institution, it being the most efficient measure for early diagnosing of breast cancer. She announced that Pljevlja Primary Health Care Center, after education of the personnel, would commence inviting female co-citizens for this examination.

She also pointed out that this donation was especially significant for their institution because this device would be used by citizens of the Municipalities of Žabljak and Pljevlja respectively, who previously had had to ask for that kind of health service in the surrounding cities.

Your planer needs you

(05 June, 2009)
5th of June as the World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. The theme of this year’s jubilee is "YOUR PLANET NEEDS YOU – UNITED IN FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGES“.

During the previous two centuries, through development of industry and modern technology, humans made the greatest impact on impairment of the environment. Its protection implies all the actions taken with the aim to prevent the causes of degradation, pollution or destruction of the environment and excessive consumption of natural resources and space.
Global warming is probably one of the biggest global problems of the 21st century. Scientists ascertained that human factor, i.e. the manner in which we treat ourselves and the nature on daily basis, contributes to creation of this problem with 90%.

Promonte pays special attention to responsible conduct of business and has great ambitions in the area of environment protection as well as activities related to decrease of global warming. As a provider of communication services, Promonte does not belong to the group of heavy polluters; nevertheless, we wish to decrease emissions of carbon-dioxide (CO2) within our activities, through increase of energy efficiency of our network installations and business buildings. Also, we want to influence relevant subjects in a way that they put a special emphasis on this issue. Moreover, it is important to serve as a good example in the community, to be followed by people, and to clearly show that efficient usage of telecommunication services will save energy and reduce pollution.

The Study on Energy Efficiency of the Building, planting of the park in Block VI in Podgorica, the planned positioning of base stations with alternative sources of power supply, an internal campaign among the employees, are just some of the steps taken by the Promonte company.

Each of us, as an individual, can contribute to mitigation of this problem by his/her responsible everyday behavior. If you haven’t being doing it already, start caring for yourself and your environment as of today by doing little things, because it still isn’t too late!

Useful advices:
Plant a tree; Avoid using the substances that deplete the ozone layer; Use energy saving light bulbs; Avoid using plastic bags; Use lesser quantities of hot water; Purchase rechargeable batteries; Plug the devices that are not used at the time out of the mains; Check the pressure in your vehicle’s tyres on regular basis, since if the pressure is lower than the prescribed one by only 40kPa, the fuel consumption will be increased by about 3%; Aggressive driving is not worthwhile, because fast motion and sudden braking will save only about 4% of your time; Use the automobiles as little as possible, because walking or riding a bicycle is much healthier, cheaper and environmentally friendlier; Dish washing machine consumes less energy than manual washing up with hot water from the home’s water heater; Do not use water from a through-flow water heater, since it consumes much more energy than an ordinary water heater; Plant trees as a shield from overheating or cold winds; clamber plants are cooling the house in summer and heating it in winter; One bathing consumes as much hot water as three showering; Devices with the energy star mark consume even 10 times less energy than those who do not have this mark; Turn off the light in auxiliary premises, use one light bulb of high power instead several weaker bulbs, since a cluster of light bulbs consumes 50% more electric power; use photo cells for external illumination, which turn on only when someone enters the photo cells illumination area; Pressure cooker saves electric power and time and preserves nutritive ingredients; use a burner of the same/lesser diameter like/then the cooking dish diameter

For the first quarter of 2009. EBITDA increased for 5% comparing the same period last year and reached 7.57 mill eur. The EBITDA margin increased to 40% mainly due to reduced sales and marketing expenses as well as lower handset costs more than offset the fall in revenues.

With this support Promonte wishes to empower the young ones with disabilities to take active participation in the society, particularly in the area of education, through providing them a possibility to communicate without any barriers, by using the service of Internet Anywhere.

The objective of this project is to enable the persons with disabilities to use mobile Internet anywhere, with the laptop and modem, which will make easier for them to be at the very source of information at all times and thus be included in the life of the social community to the maximum.

This activity has been planned as a long-term project. The employees of Promonte will also be involved in the project and they will, through their voluntary work, be at the disposal for advice and assistance to the persons with disabilities who will be using the service and will, with their personal examples and efforts, contribute to the development of the overall concept of social responsibility. Should the pilot project prove to be successful and useful for the persons with disabilities, Promonte will later also extend the project to other non-governmental organizations that are actively engaged in this problem area.

The success of a company is not measured just by good performance and outstanding position in the market, but also by its responsibility to the community in which it does business and to its people. The evidence of this statement is the fact that the Telenor Group, the owner of Promonte Company, is the first on the list of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. This index ranks international companies on the basis of the assessment of their overall financial, social, and environmental impact.

STABLE BUSINESS PERFORMANCE

(11 February, 2009)
Promonte announces that the business revenues in the last quarter of 2008 as well as total revenues for 2008 have been stable comparing the previous year. This is, first of all, result of good indicators when it comes to interconnection revenues which are significantly higher than the last year. At the same time, regardless favorable tariffs that Promonte offers to it’s customers, higher number of postpaid subscribers caused growing revenues in this segment on yearly level. Development of data services, known as Internet Anywhere concept, has contribute constantly to a positive trend. Launching of Djuice brand, especially when it comes to the contribution in number of subscribers, is also registered as support to Promonte stability. However, roaming and prepaid revenues were slightly down than expected, especially during summer months.

Promonte registered revenue volume of 20.7 mill eur in fourth quarter of 2009. that is on the level of revenue volume achieved in quarter fourth of 2007.
“Revenues remained stable, higher interconnection revenues compensated less intensive campaigns of selling subsidized handsets and lower roaming revenues”, explains Rada Drobnjak, Promonte CFO.
Cumulatively, for twelve months of 2008., total revenues reached 94,2 mill eur or 1% lower than total revenues in 2007.
For the fourth quarter of 2008. EBITDA in local currency increased for 20% on 7,7 mill eur comparing the same quarter of 2007. The EBITDA margin increased mainly due to reduced sales and handset related costs more than offsetting the increased interconnect costs. For 12 months of 2008. EBITDA is 39.6 mill eur, or 7% lower compared with the 12 months of 2007.

“Based on several indicators that Promonte is following up, management evaluates that this company holds stable position of the market leader during the last year. The number of subscriptions decreased by 102,000 during the fourth quarter mainly due to the end of the tourist season, what is a characteristic of tourist country as Montenegro.” - says Christopher Laska, Promonte CEO and adds: ”Official reports in Montenegro about mobile operator market hare refers to overall number of active SIM cards. Promonte also reports respecting this criteria. But, this kind of measurement is not telling a lot about success in business performance, especially not on the over saturated Montenegrin market. Therefore we are more focused on analyses of our share in total traffic and revenue share as they are much better indicators of business performance.”

At the global level, with 5,5 million new subscriptions, or 164 million in total, Telenor remained the seventh largest mobile operator in the world. More details about Telenor Group business performance you could find on: http://www.telenor.com/en/investor-relations/reports/q4-2008.jsp

The Telenor Group Ranked Number One

(05 February, 2009)
Telenor has been ranked number one on sustainability in mobile telecommunications on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) for the second year in a row. The DJSI ranked Telenor as the industry leader among 17 mobile telecommunications companies on the combined performance on a range of economic, social and environmental criteria.

This is the seventh year that Telenor has been ranked highly on the DJSI. The Indexes rank how well companies conduct their business based on 98 in-depth questions on economic, social and environmental aspects of Sustainability. This is the world's most comprehensive annual analysis of sustainability trends and corporate sustainability performance. The research is based on extensive internal and external documentation.

Long term investment in sustainability
Telenor’s achievement is the result of a sustained focus on improving the company’s corporate responsibility performance across the Group. “We are pleased that the DJSI recognise our long term investment in improving the sustainability of all our operations,” said Hilde Tonne, Executive Vice President, Communications and Corporate Responsibility.

Improvement needed on supply chain performance
The DJSI report recognised that Telenor still has some way to go in order to ensure sustainability across the supply chain, with a ranking of 51 per cent (compared to the industry average of 49 per cent). Telenor submitted information on the unacceptable working conditions revealed in Bangladesh as well as the comprehensive ongoing measures taken.

Compares favourably to competitors
The analysis covered a wide-range of non-financial aspects of Telenor’s business. Digital Inclusion and Climate Strategy were two areas where Telenor received a top score. “The combined score reflects that while there are areas where we need to improve, the overall sustainability performance of Telenor compares favourably to that of our competitors.” said Mai Oldgard, Vice President, Corporate Responsibility, Telenor Group.

Employees Setting an Example

(24 December, 2008)
If any campaign arouses the most noble and most humane in us, then it is certainly the campaign of collecting aid for the inmates of the Orphanage in Bijela.
And so it was this time as well; however, everything took on even a wider dimension because our employees made a huge contribution to it by brining shoes, clothes, and toys. Maybe the title in a daily paper „Employees Setting an Example” is the best proof of that. Let’s be proud of it!
Traditionally, on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, Promonte organizes distribution of packages for those children, as a consideration and care for the persons deprived of parental care.
Moreover, the actors of the Town Theater from Podgorica played for the children a puppet-show „Magic Stone”, the general sponsor of which is our Company.
There were also the Santa Claus, a magician as well as young singers.
At least for a moment, we felt the genuine children’s happiness, we saw smiles on their faces...
Have a look at what it looked like in a photo story.

„STOP AIDS. Let Us Fulfill the Commitments Made. Take over the Initiative.”

(01 December, 2008)
World AIDS Day, the 1st of December, this year, in all the countries – members of the United Nations, is marked through the campaign under the title „STOP AIDS. Let Us Fulfill the Commitments Made. Take over the Initiative!“. This time, the global campaign is particularly targeted at the leaders in societies and at their role in the fight against this disease, which worldwide took almost 3 million lives in the course of 2005 and, in the same year, over 4 million persons were infected with HIV. AIDS is the problem, which calls for a major engagement on all levels of a society. It is indispensible that every member of the society gives his/her contribution to the response to HIV, so that the number of persons who carry this virus in Montenegro remains on a low level. The leaders, the elected senior officials in the society, in this case, should demonstrate responsibility and take over the decisive role.

This year as well, Promonte Company is the general sponsor of the activity of the non-governmental organization CAZAS, which marks the 1st of December within the National Campaign, which is launched in the entire territory of Montenegro. The prime mover of the Campaign on the national level is the Republic AIDS Commission, while CAZAS is one of the partners participating in its carrying on. This year, the campaign will last in the period between the 17th of November and the 10th of December and will be based on two main segments: fight against the stigma and discrimination, and the work with vulnerable groups.

In addition to the humanitarian concert, which was held in the coffee shop Nice Vice in Podgorica on the 30th of November, at which Boris Novkovic performed, within the plan of the campaign, CAZAS will realize numerous activities across Montenegro: ,,Travelling Van’’, the production and distribution of the informative, educational, and promotional materials, lectures, and forums at the faculties of the University of Montenegro, media, and sports activities.
