In 2009, Telenor Group introduced "Old Phone, New Life", a global scheme for collecting, re-using and recycling mobile phones.
Starting in October 2009 Telenor in Montenegro joined this project and for the 12 month app. 30.000 handsets has been collected.
(02 October, 2009) Could anyone wish the better title for the campaign of mobile phone recycling? We assume not. And this was just the title of the whole page article in daily "Vijesti" regarding Promonte Green business.
Yesterday, a press conference was organized in Promonte premises regarding launching of campaign OLD PHONE NEW LIFE. What is interesting about this event is that all the relevant stakeholders were present and speaking about the project: Directors of three partner institutions Institut for maritime biology, Natural History Museum of Montenegro and Forest management but as well deputy Minister of agriculture, water and forests, Advisors in Ministry of spatial planning and environment and Agency for environment protection.

“With the aim of contributing to protection of environment, Promonte has for the first time in Montenegro launched a big action of old mobile phones recycling. By this campaign we want to contribute to the raising of ecological awareness of Montenegrin population and our partners in this project will help us. Namely, for each recycled phone Promonte will set aside a certain amount of money to help solving the three environmental issues in Montenegro: blossom of sea in The Boka Kotorska Bay, , drying of the forests in the north of the country and a lower number of birds in Skadar lake.” said Ana Radulovic, Promonte CCAO.
Mike Michel, Promonte CMO presented the commercial part of the campaign emphasizing that this is a pioneer work in Montenegro, for the first time conducted on Montenegrin market: “I hope we will see a lot of mobile phones ready for recycling. But this is also not one time campaign, customers will all the year around have the possibility to give away their old mobile phones for recycling in Promonte point of sales. Greener Solution Company is our partner and they will export all the collected phones from Montenegro”.
“I am glad that Promonte recognized forests and problems related to their drying as issue worth to support”, said Milosav Andjelic, Deputy Minster for forests and surprised all the journalists by throwing away his old mobile phone in a recycle box to give an good example to others.

More than happy were the directors of three partner institutions. They said that it is good thing that Promonte included all the parts of Montenegro in the campaign. They promise they will help in raising awareness of Montenegrin population together with Promonte by presenting the relevant projects.
“Inadequate disposal of old mobile phones is the problem in Montenegro and that is why Ministry for spatial planning and environment thinks that this Promonte activity is important contribution to the finding of optimal solution for this issue” said Igor Jovanovic, Advisor in Ministry for spatial planning and environment.

(29 October, 2009) Promonte company has hosted students of the fourth grade from primary school "Milorad Musa Burzan", in order to hold a common class on recycling.

In an imaginative and interesting way, the youngsters explained to the employees in Promonte the ways to protect environment and how different materials can influence its polluting.
The children had the chance to hear more about Promonte compaign “Old phone, new life“, mobile phones recycling and the projects that our company is going to support with the collected funds from the recycled phones.

The most touching moment, that provoqued tears of joy with some, was when the small fighters for environment, letter by letter, pronounced the name of our company: Profesionalni (Professional), Radni (Hard-working), Otmeni (Elegant), Moji (Mine), Odvažni (Courageous), Nasmijani (Smiling), Tačni (Punctual), Ekspresni (Express)!
After the class on recycling, the children were treated to specialties of the canteen „Primo piano“, and they were also given presents, as a thanks and in memory of this small-big day.
Promonte company have once more proven that they work on raising environmental awareness through various activities, this time with the youngest ones.

(16 November, 2009) On Saturday, November 14th, Promonte company has organized prize assignment for the biggest phone in Delta City Center.
With the aim of contributing to preservation of environment, Promonte company launched for the first time on 1st October a one-year activity of old mobile phones recycling.
With this campaign, Promonte wishes to actively participate in solving the increasing problem of electronic waste and raising environmental awareness of the Montenegrin public.
All citizens of Montenegro can recycle mobile phones, and Promonte customers also achieve certain benefits when submitting phones for recycling. Postpaid users who submit their phone for recycling can obtain discount of 20 Euro when buying a new one, or 300 minutes of free traffic within Promonte network. From 1st November, benefits in the form of 300 minutes of talk within 069 network or 300 SMS messages in the following 6 months can also be obtained by prepaid users.

During October, 3,403 phones were submitted for recycling. During the first month of the recycling action, there was a competition: "Biggest mobile phone". In the following competition, both prepaid and postpaid customers of Promonte network could participate equally, and the winner was chosen by measuring the length of the phone.
The winner of this competition is Nebojša Rabrenović, who brought the phone Ericsson R250s PRO with the length of 32,5 cm. Ericsson R250s PRO is an Ericsson model that was released in 2000. it can be described as a very interesting model for that period because of many specific options. It belongs to the type of devices that are resistant to humidity, dust, kicks and falls, and thus it was suitable for all those who work in very challenging conditions. The model Ericsson R250s PRO is no longer produced. As a prize for the biggest submitted phone for recycling, he received a new environmental mobile phone Samsung E1107 Solar.

Except for this prize, two special prizes were awarded for the most unusual mobile phone submitted for recycling. Special prizes were awarded for the phones: Technophone LTD brought by Novović Rade and Siemens S24858-H1014-A10-02, brought by Lazar Srdanović.
November, 3184 phones were submitted for recycling so far.
(30 November, 2009) The action of collecting mobile telephones for recycling has exceeded all the expectations.
During November 7,618 telephones were collected, which together with 3,403 pieces collected in October makes 11,021 pieces of mobile telephones ready available for recycling.
We have definitely succeeded in raising the level of awareness of Montenegrin public with regard to the issue of electronic waste and its impact on the environment.
Confirmations of this are witnessed on daily basis, and the most recent and dearest one is certainly the self-initiated visit of the children from "Sunce" (The Sun) Kindergarten to our company, who brought their mobile telephones for recycling. And this is not all: they also brought as a gift a watch made of recycled material and a collective drawing.

(15 March, 2010) During 5 months of the campaign “Old phone, new life” Promonte collected 21.768 mobile phones.
Recycling success Company Promonte, part of Telenor Group, within global recycling program ‘Old phone, new life” launched on 1st October 2009 a pioneer project of mobile phones recycling in Montenegro, with the aim of contributing to solving the problem of electronic waste and raising awareness of Montenegrin public on this issue and environment protection. As a proof that we have reached the defined aim, there is data on the number of collected old mobile phones during the first five months of the campaign: 21.768.
As of today, mobile recycling programmes are in operation in 6 companies throughout the Telenor Group (in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro). The total number of collected handsets was approximately 140,000 in 2009 (and 300.000 in total between 2007 and 2009). Once collected, the phones are sent to Zonzoo (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified company specialising in the safe disposal of mobile phones.)
New incentives for customers For each returned mobile phone, Promonte company provided relevant benefits to their customers. Thus, postpaid customers could choose between 20 Euro discount for purchase of a mobile phone or 300 free of charge on net minutes during three months. For each mobile phone submitted for recycling, prepaid customers could choose between 300 free minutes or 300 free SMSs in the time period of 6 months.

Having in mind the success of the campaign, we are convinced that, both Promonte, and our customers, can contribute to solving this problem even further. Therefore we have decided to introduce from 15th March additional beneftis for our customers who decide to give their old mobile phones for recyling .
Apart from the possibility to get 20 e discount when purchasing a new phone, all postpaid Promonte customers who decide to take part in recycling, could choose a benefit of 300 free of charge on net minutes and additional 300 free of charge SMSs towards all mobile networks in Montenegro and also Telenor Serbia. And that is not all. All users of Transfer postpaid tariff packages, from 15th March to 1st May, can have free calls towards their chosen Family and Friends numbers. Let us remind you, users of Transfer package 50 can choose 2 F&F numbers, Transfer 110 3 F&F numbers, Transfer 250 4 numbers and Transfer 550 5 F&F numbers.
For prepaid customers, old terms of promotion apply.
Recycled phones contributing to birds, sea and woods protection During the recycling campaign, Promonte company sets aside for each submitted phone 1 euro to support projects in the field of environment protection. With the aim of prevention of drying of forests in Montenegro, with the Forest Directorate we support the project of procurement of biological means that prevent expansion of drying of forests. For protection of 5 ha of Montenegrin forests, it is necessary to recycle 20 mobile phones.

Having in mind the good response from citizens in the action of recycling, already for the first five months of the campaign project of marking birds with rings in Skadar lake received needed support.. For that reason, in the following period, Natural History Museum of Montenegro will be collecting support for the project of marking collonies of whiskered terns in Skadar lake. For marking of one collony, it is necessary to recycle 400 phones.
Also, the Institute for Maritime Biology will use recycling support to prevent expansion of dangerous algae known as “tumor of the Mediterranean”. One recycled mobile phone is enough to map 1 m2 of the sea bottom.
Exhibition of the most interesting old phones Also, having in mind the interest that the campaign raised, in Promonte offices in Nikšić, Bijelo Polje and Berane, exhibition of the most interesting collected old mobile phones will be organized.
SMS donation line and WAP ECO page SMS donor line, Promonte recycling is still active. Namely, by sending SMS with the content ’Promonte reciklaža’ to number 14580, all Promonte customers can donate 0.50 euro that are also directed as support of one of the mentioned projects. All Promonet customers that want to know more about environment protection, recycling and projects that are supported, can access ECO WAP page free of charghe in next 30 days, startign March 15th.
(22 March, 2010) World Forest Day was established 38 years ago in order to remind us of the importance of forests and numerous benefits society gets from them.
The idea of celebrating the World Forest Day was created on the 23rd session of the General Assembly of the European Confederation of Agriculture in 1971 year. Later, Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) supported that idea, believing that such an event would contribute to increasing awareness of the importance of forests and agreed with the annual celebration throughout the world.
21 March was chosen as a day of autumnal equinox in the southern and vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere, as a day of celebrating and commemorating the three key aspects of forestry: protection, production and recreation.
The total area of Montenegro is 1,381.000 ha, out of which, according to the statistics, forests and forest land occupy 743,609 ha or 54%. Of the total area, forests cover 620,872 ha, while bare forest land covers 122,737 ha. Total timber stock in the forests of Montenegro is estimated at about 72,056.699 m3, of which 29,527.555 m3 are coniferous trees or 40.98% and deciduous trees 42,529.144 m3 or 59.02%.
According to the Law, forests as the land of general interest are revived, maintained and used under conditions and in a manner that ensures permanent preservation and increase of their natural values and ecological functions, permanent and functional use, protection from harmful effects and cultivation that provides continuous yield increase.

The Promonte company, through the action of recycling, gives its contribution to solving this problem as well. Namely, for each submitted mobile phone we take 1 EUR to support projects in the field of environmental protection. In order to prevent forests drying in Montenegro, together with Forest Administration we support the project of procurement of biological agents, pheromone, that prevents spreading of forests drying. For the protection of 5 ha of Montenegrin forests, it is to be recycled 20 mobile phones. Bearing in mind the number of mobile phones collected so far, Promonte has contributed to the preventive protection from drying of 1,864 ha of Montenegrin forests.
In honour of celebrating this day, representatives of the Promonte company visited the forest near Savnik and together with Vitomir Tepacevic, chief forest engineer in the Directorate of Forests, attended putting of pheromone. This work was helped by foresters.
"One of the biggest problems in forest management is forests drying. The problem of drying and dying out of forests, today, not only here but all around the world is the biggest environmental problem. As the main causes of the above condition, there are negative impacts of air pollution, micro-flora pathogens, harmful insects, climate change and the impact of anthropogenic factors. Therefore we particularly appreciate the contribution of the Promonte company which recognized the need to contribute to preventive solving of this problem," said Mr. Tepacevic.
Besides 21 March, which is celebrated as the World Forest Day, 22 March celebrates the World Water Day, and 23 March the World Meteorological Day. It is the right time for one to reconsider nature around him and violence it is exposed to. And each one of us, individually, may at least contribute a little to make it better for all of us, we should not ignore it and say, and what can I do about it. Everyone can do something, and gathered together we can do a lot.
(22 April, 2010) "Nature is the foundation of life, unique and unrepeatable, especially for us in Montenegro, considering the uniqueness and specificity of the symbiosis of man and natural environment. Therefore, the concept of this year's Fair is based on the celebration of 2010 - the year of biodiversity at the global level, as well as challenges in the context of obligations arisen after the UN Summit on Climate Change held in December 2009 year in Copenhagen, as well as preparations for the UN conference on biodiversity to meet the Third World Summit on Sustainable Development " - remarked Branimir Gvozdenovic, the Minister of Spatial Planning and Environment.
These words contain enough reasons why our company attended for the first time the Ecology Fair in Budva. It appeared rather natural for us to show up there, while for many, we were a kind of sensation - numerous visitors were very pleasantly surprised by our presence at the Fair. Namely, who would have thought that a company that deals with telecommunications would participate as an equal strategic partner in the environmental protection together with institutions that deal primarily with ecology.

Ana Radulovic, a deputy of executive director for corporate affairs, giving her presentation on "Environmental protection as an integral part of socially-responsible business activity”, informed participants about our activities to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by building energy-efficient networks, by reduction of business trips via virtual meetings and the like. We also reminded them that together with our users we raise awareness of the possibilities of preserving the environment through mobile phone recycling project. The services that we provide to our users such as e-load for prepaid and e-bill for postpaid users are also the examples showing that the company takes care of the environment. She particularly stressed the importance of employees: "The best ambassadors of a company are in fact its employees. That is why Promonte greatly deals with internal communication and education of employees regarding the protection of the environment and the impact that everyday activities at work or at home can have on our environment. Employees are inspired to take part in a variety of initiatives. Climate changes affect us all, and each one of us as an individual, can contribute to a better quality of life by one’s own actions. "

Our magic box with 9 000 out of a total of 25 000 collected phones in the recycling campaign, which, as a part of the global campaign of the Telenor Group called OLD PHONE NEW LIFE, started on 1 October 2009, was again in the spotlight both of the Fair participants and visitors, especially the youngest phone users who asked many questions.
Impressions from the Ecology Fair were very positive. We can be very satisfied and happy that we have this opportunity to confirm that we are a company that pays much attention to environmental protection. Considering that we were experienced at the Fair as a pleasant surprise it is an additional incentive for us to continue with activities on the environmental protection and raising environmental awareness of citizens.
(04 June, 2010) World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June every year. This day was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations back in 1972, on the occasion of opening the Conference on Environment in Stockholm. 38 years after its establishment, the named day is celebrated by almost 100 nations all around the globe.
By celebrating World Environment Day, the United Nations stimulates raising awareness of the importance of environment and encourages political involvement and activities in this field. The objectives of celebrating the World Environment Day are:
- Humane approach to environmental protection issues
- Enabling people to become active participants in sustainable development
- Promotion of understanding that we need to change attitudes towards environmental issues
- Promote partnerships that will ensure all nations to enjoy safer and more advanced future.
This year World Environment Day carries a clear slogan: "Many species. One planet. One Future!"
World Environment Day is a global event and as such it is celebrated by nations on all continents. Celebration activities are numerous: planting trees, street meetings, bicycle parades, concerts, art and literary competitions in schools, cleaning and recycling campaigns. This day also provides opportunities for organisation of thematic seminars, workshops and symposiums. Every year we choose another country in which the central event is held to celebrate World Environment Day. This year's global host is African country Rwanda.
Telenor and World Environment Day Telenor company launched the pioneer project in Montenegro last year - collecting mobile phones for recycling. We have all witnessed the success of this campaign, which was much more successful than expected.
This year's celebration is dedicated to biodiversity, and it is just Telenor in Montenegro, that through separating one euro for each returned mobile phone has supported projects that fit perfectly into the story of biodiversity. To recall, thanks to all the citizens of Montenegro participating in the action of collecting mobile phones for recycling and to Telenor company, the following projects have been supported: bird ringing, tagging sea swallow colonies on Skadar Lake, buying pheromone to prevent forest from drying up, researching mucilage phenomenon in the Boka Bay, seabed mapping on the occasion of the appearance of a dangerous algae “Tumour of the Mediterranean.”
Celebrating this day is certainly a good reason to recall the activities by which we, the employed, have contributed to environmental protection. We cleaned Skadar Lake after floods that left behind piles of garbage on its banks, we planted 14 symbolic trees in the Telenor Park, we arranged access to our building and most of us, on the occasion of introducing the system of environmental protection in our company, attended the education in nature.
It is just on this day that we are to announce that we will soon be able to mark the first birds that will fly away from Montenegro with rings carrying the MNE mark. In the days that follow, we will inform you about this event in detail.
(17 June, 2010) Telenor Company organized the export of the first contingent of 23 000 mobile phones collected for recycling in the campaign, "Old Phone - New Life". Telenor Company has launched a campaign last year, “Old Phone - New Life”. This pioneer project in Montenegro had the task that as many as possible old mobile phones are collected from the citizens and that they are recycled, and all that in order to preserve the environment, education and raising environmental awareness of Montenegrin citizens. The data that from October 2009 to April 2010 there were collected 23,000 phones, speaks enough about the great success of this project. Phones collected in this period were, in cooperation with Germany's company ZonZoo, exported to Germany to get, “a new life”, or be used as a new type of material.

If we know that electronic waste is one of the biggest global environmental problems and that in developed countries it increases three times faster than the utility waste, the campaign initiated by Telenor says a lot about the responsible way of Telenor’s business doing. We must not forget the huge environmental benefit, because the phones collected from citizens as environmental waste, are exported from our country.
The year of 2010 has been named the Year of Biodiversity, and it is just Telenor in Montenegro, through the separation of one euro for each returned mobile phone in the campaign Old Phone - New Life that supported projects that fit perfectly into the story of biodiversity: bird ringing, marking colonies of sea swallows on Skadar Lake, purchasing pheromone to prevent forests from drying, researching mucilage phenomenon in the Boka Bay, mapping the seabed on the occasion of appearance of dangerous algae named "Tumour of the Mediterranean.".
WHY RECYCLE A MOBILE PHONE? Most mobile phone users buy new phones every two years. In addition to that, there is an extremely large number of old phone ending up in trash or remain forgotten somewhere. And even more than 90% of the mass of mobile phone material can be renewed and re-used as a kind of material, and the remaining 10% goes on energy for recycling.
The material obtained from recycling can be used for the construction of roads, new mobile phones and many other useful things.
Action of collecting phones for recycling is a constant Telenor’s offer. All the inhabitants of Montenegro can handle over their old phones to Telenor's offices or to Xpress teams. Depending on whether they are post-paid or prepaid, customers of Telenor network can get certain benefits.
Recycling old mobile phones is not the only activity by which the employees in Telenor contributed to environmental protection. Cleaning of Skadar Lake, the renewals of Telenor Park by planting 14 young trees, flower decoration of our building’s approach, and attendance of education in nature of the majority of employees, on the occasion of introduction of environmental protection in the company, are just some of the major activities in this field.
Telenor Company plans numerous activities in the field of environmental protection, and one of them is certainly the ringing of first birds that will fly away from Montenegro bearing the ring marked MNE.
(2 July, 2010) Telenor Company together with the Institute of Marine Biology from Kotor, organized a tour around the Boka Bay for the mucilage phenomenon research project. The project is supported by Telenor’s phone recycling campaign, "Old Phone - New Life," which began last year. Upon the arrival in Perast, the hosts took us to the Museum of the Town of Perast, in order to see the underwater photo exhibition "Miraculous Living Creatures of the Sea," organized by the Institute, with intent to visually meet the underwater world.
During the tour around the Boka Bay, field sampling was conducted at several locations within the project "Monitoring Conditions of Hydro-graphic and Biological Parameters of the Boka Bay". Plankton net that takes phytoplankton samples was let down, while at the same time the hydro-graphic sonde measured hydro-graphic parameters of the sea. During the summer months there is an increase in biomass of phytoplankton organisms - algae, which, appearing in a great number, weigh sea water, change its composition and cause mucilage phenomenon, which must be monitored.
"The project, enabled by Telenor Company, thanks to the recycling campaign, helps us stay at sea more often and monitor with greater dynamics the changes that have been taking place, which certainly contributes to our regular sea monitoring that we do for the Environmental Protection Agency", said Aleksandar Joksimovic, Director of the Institute of Marine Biology from Kotor.

The data that, since October 2009 until now, there have been collected 30,000 phones, speaks enough about the great success of this project. This year has been declared the Year of Biodiversity, and it is just Telenor in Montenegro, that through separation of funds for each phone returned within the campaign "Old Phone - New Life" has supported environmental projects that fit perfectly into the story of biodiversity. Those are bird ringing, tagging sea swallow colonies on Skadar Lake, buying pheromone to prevent forests from drying out, research of the mucilage phenomenon in the Boka Bay and mapping the seabed on the occasion of appearance of the dangerous algae "Tumour of the Mediterranean."
Telenor Company continues the campaign named "Old Phone - New Life." This pioneer project in Montenegro has the task to collect as many old mobile phones from citizens as possible and to have them recycled, whereas all that for the purpose of preserving environment, education and raising environmental awareness of Montenegrin citizens. Judging by the results of the previous phone recycling, we can be more than delighted.
Unfortunately, in recent years, the mucilage phenomenon is present on the Montenegrin coast. The Institute of Marine Biology has been determining state of the quality of coastal waters of the Bay and has been performing qualitative and quantitative studies of fish population structure, from the point of negative impact on the ecosystem. These studies determine the degree of changes that have incurred due to the influence of a man from the mainland as well as the changes in the functioning of ecosystem in all its links.
Telenor Company used the opportunity to directly participate in the sea researches financed from the recycling funds and to acquaint better with the project itself which is of great importance for the preservation of the Montenegrin sea quality.
(08 July, 2010) Telenor and Natural History Museum of Montenegro organised a boat trip and visit to Whiskered tern's colonies on Skadar Lake, in order to present the project of this bird's mapping. The project was included in the system of financing ecological programs by Telenor and recycling campaign "Old phone – new life", which has been started last year.
Whiskered tern, also referred to as a storm-petrel, belongs to rare birds, whose number has been growing lately at Skadar Lake. There were only fifteen couples found in 1974, while presently there are several hundreds of nests and seventeen colonies. This fact surely contributes to biodiversity in Montenegro.
"Whiskered Terns build nests in colonies and they have occupied the most typical, and according to many witnesses - the most beautiful habitat at Skadar Lake - floating "meadows" of white water-lilies. Their nests built in such a way are very fragile and colonies are often destroyed by summer storms or careless passing of boats and therefore they need to be protected. With Telenor’s support, we enable survival and development of Whiskered Terns by determining locations and areas of their colonies, number of nests, by examining their season dynamics, biology of nesting, nutrition and similar", said Ondrej Vizi, Director of Natural History Museum of Montenegro.

The team of Natural History Museum (Ondrej Vizi and Andrej Vizi, both ornithologists), together with ornithologists from the National Parks of Montenegro and team from Slovenia, determine the place of each colony with exact geographic coordinates. Precise GPS devices are being used along with maps, as well as satellite records of the lake. The team also evaluates successful nesting and number of newborn birds.
During the boat trip and visit to storm-petrel colonies, all participants had a chance to find out everything about the mapping and monitoring of biodiversity, to see presentation of scientific-documentary film about the realisation of complete project, and most importantly, to convince themselves that principles of nature protection are maximally respected during the team work .
Once again, it is good to remind you that this year is proclaimed for biodiversity year, while Telenor in Montenegro supported ecological projects that perfectly fit in the story of biodiversity, by means of dividing funds for each returned mobile phone in the scope of the campaign “Old phone – new life”. Until the end of the summer, we will follow up the realisation of two more ecological projects – marking of birds on Skadar Lake and examination of algae “Tumour of Mediterranean” at the open sea area of our bay.
(20 September, 2010) For the first time in the Montenegrin history, birds from Montenegrin territory were marked with MNE rings. Marking project by Natural-History Museum was supported by Telenor’s recycling campaign. In the presence of the officials from the Ministry of Living Environment Protection, Environment Protection Agency and Natural-History Museum, as well as journalists and our employees – Christopher Laska, CEO, put a first MNE ring on a bird.

Telenor started the recycling of old mobile phones, a project named "OLD PHONE, NEW LIFE", in October last year. The project’s aim was to raise awareness of Montenegrin public about electronic waste and significance of the protection of living environment. For each phone that has been handed in, Telenor sets aside 1 EUR in the Fond for support of diverse projects of Natural-History Museum, Institute for Maritime Biology and Forest Directorate of Montenegro. Until today, more than 30,000 phones were collected.
In organisation of Natural-History Museum and Telenor, a whole-day marking of birds took place on Plavnica. Marking had a promotional character, aiming to inform the public more about significance of this project and the very process of marking, as well as to attract large number of volunteers, who will be involved in marking and help ornithologists in the future, which is a practice in the whole world.
Christopher Laska, CEO, was the first who had honour to mark a bird (Black cap bird) with MNE ring: "This action has a scientific significance, since now our ornithologists can know exactly where our birds live, how old they are and where they breed. These data certainly help in the research about bird species, not only in Montenegro, but the whole world as well. I feel extremely honoured to be the first person who put such ring on the bird. I hope that our ongoing campaign will be even more successful and include similar important projects".

There is more than 250 bird species living on Skadar Lake, meaning that this location is the best for ornithologists’ researches. Organisers from Natural-History Museum placed special nets for promotional marking of birds, in order to perform their measurements and marking with MNE rings. All participants walked through the locations to see the nets and had chance to mark birds (Kingfisher and Grey flycatcher).
By participation in such projects, Telenor shows dedication to activities of social-responsible business, through enablement of access and provision of safe products, especially when child protection on the Internet is in question.
